Type Locality and Naming

Column: Syria

Synonym: Dubayat Gr; Formerly known as "Amanus Shale Fm." Name rendered obsolete by "Lexique Stratigraphique: Syrie Interieure."


Lithology and Thickness

Top: 128m thick of black, calcareous shale grading to siltstone at the base. Some limestone found throughout in bands. Middle: 322m brow-red, chocolate, or grey-black shale with micaceous streaks. Base: ~143m of white to grey quartzite and greywacke interbedded with black shale. Further divided into Doubayat Fm, it is Claystone, Sandy claystone and Sandstone in Schematic strat column.


Lithology Pattern: 
Clayey sandstone
